Passing it Forward:
LGBTQ+ Elders of Color
Sharing The Wisdom From Their Walk
Through their own voices and images, this project will link the personal stories of LGBTQ+ elders of color — those around 50 years old and above — to the political and social movements they are connected to. Far too often when LGBTQ+ elders of color are interviewed or surveyed, it is around issues of discrimination, HIV, poverty, depression, or some other form of pathology. This work brings a different voice. By allowing this growing and important population to reflect on their life and wisdom, this project will provide a venue to allow these individuals to educate and inspire.

Volunteer Interviewers Needed
Because the interviewers would ideally be at least 25 years younger than the respondents, culturally sensitive, college-age volunteers of all races are being sought to be interviewers.
Potential college-age interviewers should: (a) have access to Zoom via their phone or computer, (b) be willing to interview LGBTQ people of color who are around 50 years old and older, (c) be willing to be trained on interviewing, and (d) be ok with the interview protocol. For those who are interested in being considered to become interviewers, please answer these questions and someone from the project will be in touch.
